overripe

5x7 oil on loose canvas

This painting kicked my ass. It should have been simple, but it made me work. I painted it last week, and it was flat. I came back today and reworked it. I could only take it so far, then it was that time of day when I race my kids home from school.
I see now that a sharp edge is pulling me to that right-most pear, who is practically mooning us for attention. I would rather focus on the left one, so demure and lovely. I'm finished, though. The pears are in the composter.

Nice rework. These look great. The values are really reading to make this 3d. :)

Thanks Jeff.
Something doesn't sit right with me though, and I can't figure it out. Any thoughts? As I said, I'm finished, but I don't want to miss an opportunity to learn something.

Great pears! Solid construction, great sense of light and shadow with the core shadow and local color... just one thing; "oil on loose canvas"? That's a new one on me.

Thank you Manjiree.

Thanks Silvina. I have a 9x12 pad of tear-off sheets of canvas.
