6x8 oil on canvas panel

It's been a rough couple of months, with both of my parents and both of my in-laws having health issues. I had to kick my own butt into the studio, and I enjoyed the painting time. I like this piece. For some reason it makes me think of SeƱor Wences.

No cadmium, folks. I cleaned up my act.

HI Dar, So sorry to hear of your trouble, very difficult having sick parents. The painting is perfect, both the peppers and lemon are painted wonderfully. I hope things turn out well for all of you. Take care

Thank you so much, Barb.
I appreciate it! At the moment, everyone is doing OK.

Sorry to hear about the health issues in the family. This is a wonderful painting! Funny, I just painted hot peppers tonight too (no lemon, though), to be posted tomorrow. What are you using in lieu of cadmiums?

Hey Dar, nice to see new art! Love the peppers, hard to believe you did this with no cadmiums? Wishing you the best.

painting does tend to make the rest of the world fade away...

And now that you mention it, it DOES look like senor wences! Nice:)

Nicely done! It is funny that you and Jala both painted thai chilis the same day. Great painters, great minds.
I'm curious with everyone else; what did you use instead of cadmiums?

Thanks for the kind thoughts, folks.
I use Azo yellow and Naphthol Red, from M. Graham. I've only used M. Graham products, but at some point I'd like to give the Gamblin line a whirl.

Jala, your peppers look awesome. They're fun aren't they? I'll definitely play with them again.
Diane, your glorious flowers are helping push Spring along.
Rhonda, more work please! I'm in love with your jar of Italian peppers.
R., your work is bold and beautiful. Thanks for sharing your photoshop tips with the world.

It's hard to get yourself painting when life happens intensively (so I truly admire your self butt kicking!), but it also helps a lot.

Hope things are starting to look up.

I like the subtleties in this painting, color-wise and shape wise, the way the peppers create a shape that echoes that of the lemon.

Dar, I like this painting too, it is a very calming, satisfying painting and the Senor Wences analogy really made me laugh - I had never heard of him but he is quite cute isn't he. Yes, the painting process is therapeutic - don't know what I'd do without it. Sorry you have been having family health problems and hope things are beginning to settle down now.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts.

Hi Laine, It was fun discovering orange-reds and purple-reds to give it shape.
Nava, I was gonna send you photos of my hands to paint, until I realized I couldn't exactly photograph them myself, LOL!
Sheila, it was very satisfying to paint. I'm glad that translates to the viewer.

Lookin' good, Dar! This is very a strong painting; good modeling and convincing shadows. You are making obvious progress. Keep up the good work!

Hi Marian, thanks for the well wishes. I need to look at other lines of paint and see if they offer good cad alternatives. I've been happy with M. Graham Azo yellow and Naphthol red.
