I bought some gouache, hoping to make magic like Erik Tiemens. He makes it look so easy. I tried it a few times, like earlier this week when I wanted to recreate a spectacular night sky. Ugh, it was awful. You won't be seeing that one. Part of the problem is I can't work well from memory/imagination.
Today I tried again, with a proper model. Just a quick study during a power outage. It was really fun. I liked varying the amount of water, playing with blending and dry brush. In my enthusiasm, I missed some proportions, but I'm ok with that. As I look at it now, my husband's French press reminds me of Chilly Willy.

Well done, Dar. Absolutely charming, but full of life. Looks like you're going to be going places with gouache.
Dar - great job with the gouache... and I love the onion painting! PS - thank you for a very old comment I just now found on my blog.
Thank you so much, ladies. It's nice to have an alternative medium that is clean and travels well!
