vegetarian thanksgiving

10x8 oil on board

I like Thanksgiving. I appreciate the spirit of the holiday, but if I'm honest, I really really really like Thanksgiving dinner. It is my favorite meal of the entire year. This year, however, will be my first Thanksgiving as a vegetarian. I don't think tofurkey is gonna do it for me. I can always make a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. You remember? Popcorn, jelly beans, and toast. I'll have to read the label to ensure the jelly beans are made without gelatin. To be safe, I think I'll just have vegetarian Wild Turkey.

The gesso board did not cooperate with me. I'm pleased with the bottle, but I had to give up on the apples. Every move lifted paint. It reminds me of painting melamine, which is impossible without a shellac based primer. I'll paint the bottle again later this week, but it may not be quite so full.

Very nice painting Dar. Great job on the bottle. No turkey, I couldn't stand that :( Go ahead and eat some no one will know, lol.

I do like your color choices and the lost edges on this one.

Looks like you're all set with the ingredients for a Thanksgiving dinner - just add the chicken (vegetarian, of course).

Thanks Barb. I may hide under the table with my brother's dogs and gobble up the scraps!

Thanks Nava. My colors often reflect my interiors or my garden. In this piece, that's a wall and tabelcloth in my workspace.

Thanks, Dar, for your comments! I like your painting! I don't see the problem you mentioned. It looks finished to me. And...good luck with the turkey (wild, that is).

Ann, thank you. I feel reassured. I usually fuss more, so these boards are probably teaching me a good lesson.

Dar, You're getting such delightfully rich colors these days, in spite of technical stuff. I like your red apples.
I have nary a suggestion about how to be a vegetarian at Thanksgiving except maybe to declare Thanksgiving a vegetarian holiday. Yet, all the trimmings without the bird might not be so bad. Especially if you have pumpkin pie!

Hi, thanks Dianne! Yes, pumpkin pie will be my main course!

Vegetarian? I hope you get gas.

Like the painting even if you don't know how to eat.

Bill, you know I'm much too dainty and polite to have gas, but if I did, I would harness it as a renewable energy source.

Beautiful Painting. Welcome to Vegiterian Club. Veg food is full of choices and is healthy. Great for stomach too.

I like Thanksgiving as well. A nice holiday with no gifts involved. I also like this painting and think the apples are fine.

I haven't heard from you in a while so thought I would tag you to get some attention. Read about the damage I did to your day on my latest post. But don't spend so much time on it you burn the turkey.

Thanks Manjiree. Would you believe my 12 y.o. son became vegetarian first, then I followed to support him and make sure he eats well.

Bill, Bill, Bill. I don't mind being 'it' next, but you stole a few of the people I would have tagged. Then you neglected to provide any steamy secrets! I need to share my wild turkey to get your secrets.
